‘Wonderlooper’ Northern Spire Bridge Sunderland UK 2018
AoR worked alongside Di Mainstone on the music and sound design for her interactive installation Wonderlooper.
AoR provided singing and drumming workshops, connecting and creating with local community groups who would inform the work.
The installation, a series of large scale, audio-visual kaleidoscopes shaped like seaside telescopes, marked the opening of Northern Spire Bridge in Sunderland.

‘Soundpit’ Southbank Centre London 2019/20
AoR were delighted to collaborate with artist Di Mainstone on the sound palette, design for Soundpit, as part of Di’s Artist in Residence for Manchester’s European City of Science
AoR were specially commissioned to design and create a sound palette for the Soundpit, a multisensory installation. Sound, visuals and motion capture technology were brought together by creative technologist Paul Miller in collaboration with game designers Shi and Kriss Blank.
RadicalRooms, executed by Charles Holland and Di Mainstone examines the profound role of women in architecture, revealing neglected figures whose designs and influential ideas have been largely overlooked by history.
AoR created the immersive soundtrack to an audio visual piece celebrating Elizabeth Cavendish more commonly known as BessofHardwick.The 16th century builder and business woman, is given a new attitude and exuberant voice as she performs ‘ElizabethanGrime’, made by AoR, in a contemporary interpretation of her powerful persona.
AoR worked with vocalists Che3Kz and SeamingTo, and Di Mainstone provided lyrics.
The piece achieved a dynamic restoration of the character, walking through her beloved Hardwick Hall and boldly stating:
